The Characteristics Of A Christian Healing Ministry

By Connie Sears

Numerous Christians state that healing for mental or physical disorders is available to those with strong faith. Such individuals often seek out a Christian healing ministry for advice or prayer. Over the years, there have been reports of miracles for those afflicted with heart problems, multiple sclerosis and cancer.

Many Christian state that if they call on Jesus, various miracles are available. Indeed, the New Testament contains many scriptures backing this statement. The belief in miracles is based on the fact that Jesus also bore infirmities and diseases when he died on the cross to redeem the human race. Verses in the Bible confirm this, such as Matthew 8:16, where the fulfillment of Isaiah 53:4-12 is referenced. The latter states that all such afflictions were borne by Jesus.

In additional Scriptures, including James 5:14, it states that through the laying on of hands miracles occur and people are set free from illnesses and afflictions. No chapter or verse in the New Testament indicates that anyone was ever denied healing if they had faith and believed in God. Particularly the texts of Mark 11:23 and Matthew 21:21 make this very clear.

As one would suspect, miracles go beyond the natural realm. For this reason, numerous ministries tell people not to limit God's based on natural circumstances. Instead, if one's faith is strong, the miracle will come if the afflicted person believes and confesses his or her belief.

Those who believe in the aforementioned doctrine state that the days of miracles are not past. This belief is based on yet another Scripture, Hebrews 13:8 which states that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and therefore the miracles He did, He still does. As stated in Acts 10:38, Jesus went around healing all who were oppressed by the devil and demonic forces. Believers state that such miracles are still available today.

Because faith plays such a major role in one's recovery, it is important for individuals to refuse to allow naysayers and unbelievers to talk them out of their miracle. Such individuals are of the opinion that God will only heal some people, but not others. However, those who think this way are missing another key Scripture found in Acts 10:34, which says that Jesus is not a "respecter of persons". The latter, in contemporary language, simply means that he will not offer a benefit to one person, while withholding it from another. Rather, it is up to the individual's level of faith in God's word.

It is also essential for one to realize that money or donations does not guarantee a miracle. In fact, a sorcerer named Simon was hotly rebuked in the book of Acts, chapter eight, verse twenty, for trying to buy God's gifts with money. Getting healed has nothing to do with giving money to a specific ministry.

When searching for a Christian healing ministry, one should look for a church or center that believes in miracles are for everyone. The person should also do everything possible to build his or her faith, and refuse to listen to those who are skeptical. Many people have received healing from God, and this is what the afflicted individual should dwell on when waiting for his or her own miracle.
