Extra Virgin Coconut Oil Benefits Weight Loss

Not all diet plans are healthy. Some drastically restrict calories. Some prohibit certain categories of foods, like fats, sugars, carbohydrates, or anything cooked. However, extra virgin coconut oil benefits weight loss without compromising health or making things difficult, even when the plan is followed for an extended period of time.

Although conventional diets have for decades advocated limiting or even eliminating fats, research and clinical trials have found that good fats actually can accelerate weight-loss and reduction of body fat. Ingesting unaltered fats, like extra-virgin olive oil or nut oils, can cause the body to burn fat that may have been stored for years. Coconuts are nutritionally superior. Young coconuts have a jelly-like substance around the inner husk and a large quantity of 'water'. The pale green husk turns brown when the nut is mature, the jelly turns to firm, white meat, and the liquid diminishes. Both types of nut are nutritious. The meat contains both protein and fiber in significant quantities. Although the oil contains neither, it is made up of medium-chain triglycerides, which are valuable and hard to find in other foods.

Medium-chain triglycerides are burned by the body for energy without having to be broken down by metabolic processes and stored. This means that coconuts can make dieters feel more energetic, keeping them from the low-blood sugar crash that increases the desire to eat. It's also easier to keep up with an exercise program that tones muscles, increases circulation, and promotes deep breathing - all things that speed up metabolism.

Cutting out refined foods, which often have altered and therefore unhealthy vegetable fats, and high-carbohydrate sweets and baked goods is key to dieting success. Adding the good fat content of coconuts helps curb appetite, enhance thermogenesis (fat-burning), and cut the misery of not eating your favorite foods while reducing calorie intake.

Some oils are derived from coconuts but extracted by solvents, deodorized (to disguise rancidity), bleached, and preserved with additives. All of this is harmful to the nutritional value. Choose a good brand that is extra-virgin and organic to ensure you get the maximum benefits. Many find their skin looks better as chronic problems like eczema and psoriasis diminish, their digestion is improved, and their hair is glossier and more abundant. Cholesterol levels often go down and thyroid function is improved.

Choose your oils wisely and see how much better reducing can be when this beneficial food is part of your daily diet. This healthy food is great for maintaining your new shape, too, long after the actual reducing program is over.
