Arthritis is basically one of those conditions which can affect your dog. Research has shown that the condition can be as a result of different factors injury being one of them. Though these complications can be treated using anti-inflammatory drugs, these medications are known to cause adverse effects. However, before trying the natural remedies, you should also understand that these treatments may take longer to show improvements. The following are some of the natural arthritis pain relief for dogs.

Moderate inflammation is known to be the cause of arthritis and poor health in dogs. Slips, slides, and falls frequently leads to unnoticed injuries. When left untreated these injuries cause inflammation on the joint causing chronic muscle spasms. In most cases, your dog may not show any signs of injuries until they get older. Though some of these injuries may not cause harm to the animal, some of them may bring future complications.

While feeding your pet with a balanced diet is highly advocated, excessive weight gain can lead to excessive suffering. Also, statistics have shown that overweight pets have high chances of suffering from arthritis. Ensuring that your animal has done regular exercises is one of the natural ways to deal with the condition. Whether arthritic or not, exercise is healthy for your dog. Using underwater treadmills or swimming are some of the practices which are recommended for dogs.

Veterinarians often recommend the use of methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) for animals with joint inflammations. MSM contains sulfur which is used by the body to form chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine as wells as cysteine and methionine amino acids. Studies related to animals have found that MSM helps maintain a healthy articular cartilage.

Ginger is another amazing herb that is known as the best ache relief. Also, fresh ginger is known for its antispasmodic property which makes it ideal for lower back pain and arthritis. When used topically, ginger can offer muscle aching relief making it an excellent natural remedy for dogs.

Licorice is another effective natural remedy for inflammation. Licorice belongs to the pea family, and its roots are known for its medicinal value. Licorice is rich in glycyrrhizin which is known to boost the effectiveness of the herb. Similar to the chemical structure in corticosteroids, Glycyrrhizin does not have any side effects to the immune system. Many studies have reported that Licorice is an effective and fast-acting anti-inflammatory agent making it ideal for treatment of arthritis in dogs.

To prepare a licorice remedy, take one tablespoon of licorice root and mix it with a cup of water. Put the mixture to boils for some few minutes then leave it for some other few minutes. When giving your dog licorice tea ensure that you do it three times a day or optimal results. Licorice is not suitable for pregnant, nursing or diabetic dogs. The herb is not recommended to be used for more than two weeks. Consider talking to your veterinary for examination of any of the above complications before using the herb.

Skullcap is a well -known natural pain remedy which is suitable for treating nerve-related complications and diseases. When combined with St Johns wort, skullcap can offer substantial benefits to injured joint. For every 20 pounds of your dogs body weight, mix 12 drops of skullcap and st Johns wort respectively. For optimal results give you dog the mixture three times a day.
