Adding some ingredients into the food people make can help them be better physical shape. The dried remains of fruits, roots, seeds and bark can be used to flavor casseroles and soaps while they also assist the body in functioning more effectively at preventing and recovering from sicknesses. The health benefits of spices are known to help the cardiovascular system work well and kill germs that can often harm people when they ingest them. Some of the seasonings that work better than others at promoting good physical shape than others are ginger, oregano, cinnamon, and turmeric.

One spice that has been used extensively for at least two thousand years is ginger. This root has helped people overcome the nauseating effects of motion sickness and chemotherapy. Those who are suffering from some levels of heart disease have also noticed that they have better blood flow and circulation after eating ginger than they did before they ate it. The antioxidant qualities have been helpful is controlling symptoms of heart disease, certain cancers and arthritis. Ginger can be drunk as a tea or be adding into meals to add flavoring.

Oregano is a perennial plant that grows in the wild in warmer climates and can also be grown annually in colder areas. This herb is loaded with antioxidants and phytonutrients that help to strengthen the immune system and kill bacteria. This is a favorite additive to Italian food dishes like pasta and pizza.

Cinnamon is derived from tropical trees in East Asia and it is useful to inhibit the growth of bacteria, yeast and fungi. Studies have shown that cinnamon is useful in the prevention of blood clots. Many people use cinnamon in coffee and tea and as a topping on some puddings.

Turmeric is a tropical plant found in India. Turmeric has anti inflammatory properties that have been helpful in reducing the symptoms of illness like Crohns disease, rheumatoid arthritis and cystic fibrosis. Some studies have also determined that the spice helps to protect the liver and heart from diseases as well. People like to use turmeric in curries, egg dishes, salad dressings and sauces. This spice also gives mustard its yellow color.

Sage can be found all over the world and its leaves are used to add flavoring to foods. Sage acts as an anti inflammatory agent and an antioxidant. This plant assists the body in moving oxygen to cells. Those who suffer from bronchial asthma can sometimes breathe better after ingesting Sage. The anti inflammatory properties provide relief for rheumatoid arthritis and atherosclerosis. Many chefs use sage in casseroles, meat dishes and soups.

Red chili peppers can be grown in most places. The hot spice has been useful to battle weight gain, high cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and stomach ulcers. Found in Mexican dishes, red chili peppers also used in curries, soups and sauces of all kinds.

The health benefits of spices are well known. These herbs not only improve the physical and mental condition of people, but they also can make foods taste good. One might want to take the time to experiment with the different varieties to determine which ones work best for them.
