Although you may know this, 60 minutes is a good amount of time that you should work out. The reason you want to stop after 60 minutes is that cortisol will begin to manifest in your body. Cortisol is a stress producing hormone which also has the nasty side effect of making your muscles begin to waste away which is not what you want. Cortisol is simply a substance that your body can do without and by not crossing the 60 minute mark, you will more than likely not produce it. Sixty minute workouts are great goal to have, and most people really can't do that much beyond that stage. And, of course, working out for more than an hour is really boring.

Generally speaking, tight muscles should be stretched twice as long as one's that are already limber or loose. As you stretch, make sure that you focus on areas that are problematic before those that are usually okay. This forces them to get the work they need to improve and keeps you from overly developing other parts of your body. As you work out, you can also apply the strategy when doing other exercises.

A good idea is to eat right after working out. Vital nutrients are typically lost when you work out from your sweat so eating right after you are done exercising is a necessity. You will definitely build more muscle if you eat right after your workout. Numerous studies have clearly shown that if you eat right after a workout you will gain more muscle than if you wait a couple hours after exercising.

An example of the great protein-based snack that has less sugar are fruit smoothies which are great to eat after you workout. As you probably know, there are many fitness tips out there that promise to help you lose weight and get in shape. None of these promises, however, will ever come true if you are not personally healthy when trying to implement them. Try to do your own research and avoid fly-by-night companies that are offering solutions that may or may not work at all. And, obviously, check everything over with a doctor before heading to the gym, just to make sure you have your bases covered.
