Are Most Diets Flawed?

By Julie Schuester

Most dieticians agree that most diet programs are really just a fast solution with big flaws, and that the key to shedding weight is to adopt a life style of healthy eating and regular exercise.

Most diet programs fail because they're by definition a 'short term fix' that includes drastic changes to your regular eating routine. They certainly don't allow you to develop a healthy HABIT of eating better.

You will adhere to some extremely stringent eating plan for a few weeks, and the minute you get back to your old eating routine you gain back the weight.

Quick fix diets usually leave you weary, and starving. They are generally too low in calories, or limit food groups, making you nutrient deficient.

Because they don't give sufficient energy to perform your exercises and attain everything else you must do in a day, they're a short-term solution at best.

In the worst case scenario, calorie restrictive diet plans could cause your body to melt away your muscle for energy. You might shed some weight in the short run, but you will also lose muscle as well as lower your metabolic process.

This is actually the classic yo-yo diet situation, and regrettably it's what individuals usually think of whenever they hear the word 'diet'. With the rise of really calorie restrictive 'plans', juice diets, cleanses and the like, individuals take it to the extreme, then regain all their weight and then some.

A truly healthy, life changing 'diet' is going to be something that quickly incorporates in to your lifestyle and help you to create lifelong healthful habits. It MUST have a nutrients balance that includes enough protein to maintain your lean muscle whilst you lose fat.

Ultimately, it's the steady incorporation of new nutritious food items and portions, and the elimination of junk and overeating leading to weight loss achievement.

Health professionals agree that beginning the day with a protein shake is a superb way to boost your metabolism and to have the protein you need to maintain muscle mass. For the entire day, eating 'lean and green' is the key!

That is a meal plan that is centered around lean protein and vegetables with limited grains and also starches.
