A Checklist Of Wilderness Survival Supplies

By Charlotte McBride

When one wants to go hiking or trekking in the jungle or the forest, he definitely cannot go empty handed. He should always make a list on what to bring in order to make his trip pleasant and avoid any problems. He would need to carry necessary wilderness survival supplies.

One should never go on a journey without a pocket knife or a Swiss knife. This little tool is probably the most important one to bring on a trip to the wild. The reason is because it is useful for so many situations like slicing or cutting things that are hard to break. It can also be used as a self defense against wild animals that would try to attack.

Of course one can never forget to bring his compass. It is with this tool that one will not get lost while he is walking around inside the woods. Just in case he does not where to go anymore, the compass will be able to help him find his bearing and bring him back to an area that he already passed by.

Obviously, water should be something that one does not forget when he goes trekking. Since the trip will take more than just one day, it is important that one stay hydrated at all times. So never forget to bring at least three bottles of water to avoid being dehydrated. If one runs out of water, he can refill his bottles in lakes or rivers but he his to make sure that the water is clean before he even takes a sip of it.

Aside from water, food is also very important because it gives one the proper strength and energy to continue trekking. So it is a must for one to carry some snacks and some cookware on his journey. He can eat the snacks when he takes a break from his hike and then cook some edibles that can be found in the woods.

Another thing that one should never forget to bring is a lighter. Even if he has a pot or a pan, he will not be able cook the food if there is no fire. Since trying to make a fire by rubbing sticks is way too hard and way too time consuming, it is more practical to just bring a lighter so that he can save a lot of time by creating a fire instantly.

Of course for precaution, one always has a carry a first aid kit while hiking or trekking. He will never know when he will fall down, get wounded, or suffer from any other casualty. So when this happens, at least he will have some medicines and a few bandages with him so that he can aid himself. This will lessen the pain and help him get home properly.

So when planning a trip to the wilderness, one must never forget these wilderness survival supplies. Without these things, going on a journey to the woods can be very dangerous. If one is afraid to carry too many things, then he does not need to but he does need at least have all the things mentioned above.
