Is It Really True That Organic Food Can Improve Your Health?

By Jason Cooper

Why Organic Food Is Actually More Desirable For Your Health?

The notion of "organic food" has been around for many years. Recently however, it is being more popular and has turned into quite a hype that is certainly drawing a lot of folk into it. Due to the fact organic produce is in general more costly than the non-organic option, those who are in the business of selling organic foods are generating huge profits. Keeping all this in mind, the question has to be asked; is organic food profoundly beneficial or perhaps even necessary for our bodies? Mainly because its definitely be costing more, is it emphatically better for us?

To find out all the information and facts, lets take an initial look at what the expression "organic" really means to us. When something is organic it means that it is free from chemicals being added to it. For example, organic crops have always been produced without the use of pesticides, ionizing radiation, synthetic fertilizers, GM (Genetically Modified) organisms or sludge from sewers. When considering the essential protein foods for example eggs, dairy and meat, antibiotics or Growth Hormone (GH) are not given to the animals.

The terrain thats used to develop organic crops must go through a lengthy three year process before the crops can be called organic. For the first two years the fertility of the land will have to be developed and only after that are crops allowed to be grown. A great deal of hard work and time goes into organic food, hence its no real shock that its more expensive. The question still needs to be stated; is this all necessary? Is there any other motive why I ought to be interested in buying organic food?

Lots of people understand that organic food boasts a more significant nutritional value then regular food. Milk from cows that have been organically raised contained, on average, 50% more Vitamin E, 70% more Beta Carotene, 2 times as many antioxidants and more Omega-3 than milk created in the conventional way. Organic food contains no extra substances, for example fertilizers and insecticides, which can be detrimental to your health. By not containing these very toxic substances the food is better for your health. Although it is a personal choice, many people have reported that they enjoy the taste of organic food and that it is a key reason why they are happy to spend the extra money on it.

Only using organic food will as a result have a beneficial impact on our environment. Pesticides and insecticides have been confirmed to have a big effect on the global ecosystem and as organic food includes neither of these its better for the ecosystem. Pollution is contributing to the urgent issue of global warming, however organic farming keeps pollution to a minimum which is good news. It is also important to observe that when farm animals are fed on organic food they are also usually treated well so that they will also produce well. Unlike the small cages and the force feeding operations seen on many other farms, organically fed animals are often "free range" and are allowed to walk around in open areas.

The facts are pretty straight forward; organic food is better for the environment, the welfare of the animals and definitely for your health. Now its just up to you to make the final choice. The cost factor must also be looked at but based on all the good benefits, I seriously recommend you take a serious look at trying to do things the organic way.
