How To Utilize The Pulse Oximeter Sensor

By Jessie Uresti

There are many people nowadays who are looking for a pulse oximeter sensor. This is because this is the kind of device which will allow one to know an estimate of the measurement of his arterial oxygen saturation in the hemoglobin without having to go though a scalpel. Moreover, one can get an accurate reading by simply using the said device for the said purpose.

For the said task, it is up to the two light Nellcor sensors to know the accurate reading. These are sources of lights which are normally called as infrared and red. This is then absorbed by the person's body which is immediately transmitted into his tissues and then sent straight to the photodetectors.

There is a proper way for the person to know what the measurement is. If this is what he wants, he should remember to get the right type of device for the work. There are many types of oximeters available after all. There are times when he can get the portable handhelds. There are also those times when the fingertip oximeters are enough for him.

To those who have not chosen the portable type, then remember that he has to always plug his device into a wall outlet to make use of it. On the other hand, the portable type is quite convenient since he does not have to plug it into any wall outlet just to make use of it. He just has to make sure that is has enough battery to last him.

When using it, there is a need for him to wash his hands. He should keep it clean so that he can get an accurate reading. After all, washing his hands will ensure that he reduces the transmission of the body secretions and various other microorganisms.

The probe should then be placed onto his finger or his earlobe. He might need Ethicon sutures. When done with that, he should then turn the device on. There must be enough arterial pulse strength so that he can obtain the accurate SpO2 measurement.

The measurement that the device has read will then be displayed on the device's lighted display screen. This allows him to read his pulse rating and oxygen saturation level. Remember that 95 up to 100 percent is the normal range. Any reading below 85 percent needs medical attention.

He can print out the reading. There are lots of pulse oximeter sensor sold in the market nowadays which possesses this feature. More than that, he can even download his readings straight into his computer if he wants to.
