Two Types Of Heart Murmur

By Owen Derwin

A heart murmur can be categorised as innocent or abnormal. Harmless murmurs are typical in children who are lively. There are a few causes for cases that are not normal. Doctors can refer their patients to specialists who will look in to the case and determine the correct action.

This type of murmur is a heartbeat with extra or unusual sounds. These sounds could range from faint to loud. They can be identified as innocent or abnormal during a typical body exam that is done by a doctor.

Innocent murmurs mainly appear with healthy kids. There are no symptoms, aside from an different sounding heartbeat. Women who are expecting may develop this problem, which is caused from the extra blood flow that occurs as their child grows.

Abnormal murmurs in kids are often caused by a congenital defect. The inner walls or the arteries and veins may be malformed, or their valves might not close perfectly. They might also be too small. Their septums might also have holes, which can affect their heartbeat. baby's might have a few defects that may be sorted with surgery.

Adults who have heart murmurs might have acquired heart valve disease, which is caused by other underlying issues. They could have suffered a myocardial infarction or an injury that has left scar tissue. A pulmonary disorder or severe high blood pressure might also be start of it. Hypothyroidism, stenosis, anemia, Rheumatic fever, or an infection might also be the source of the murmur.

When a physician diagnoses a heart murmur, he will refer his patient to a specialist who will evaluate and treat the problem. Patients may get an echocardiography, chest X-ray, or EKG. Depending on the severity of the condition, the patient may have to undergo surgery, take medications, and alter their lifestyles. Innocent murmurs are not caused by underlying diseases, and usually do not need any any further action.
