Legend or Truth - Health and Fitness Exposed

No matter if you are old hand or new at health and fitness education the overall amount of information can seem a bit staggering. Beginners often get overwhelmed trying to decipher lies from the truth. One of the first things you'll notice is that fitness books are most usually written by those who have personal experience or knowledge of the subject. There are of course a lot of different approaches to fitness, yours will depend heavily on what you plan to do. No doubt you will find some information that seems contradictory to other information you've found even though they may both be somewhat truthful. Carefully analyze everything you learn.

It may surprise you to learn that even the treadmill has myths that have to do with your knees. Some people believe that running on a treadmill is not as hard on your knees as running on pavement, concrete, or asphalt. This is indeed not a true statement, let us prove it. Your weight is forced upon your knees every time you run. It does not matter what the surface may be.

Your knees will not benefit any better from the little bit of give the treadmill may give you. You can helpful yourself and your knees by wearing high quality foot wear that has good absorbing material. Over extension is another mythical being that goes something like this, if you aren't feeling the burn you aren't doing enough. You will find out the next day and possibly peaking the day after that. What this describes is someone who's been inactive for a while and decides they need to hit the gym with gusto to get fit in a hurry, they often feel sore and give up shortly after. There is no reason to rush. In fact, see a doctor and get a quick check-up, then just go slow and you will have a better experience.

People sometimes complain that their bodies cannot get used to exercising at some particular time of day or that they are too tired at the end of the day. If you know what your natural circadian cycle is you would be able to reset it. Do not force your body to start working out if it is too early in the morning. The more you do it the more energy you will have.

It is important that you be able to identify fact and fiction where your health is concerned. Doing the research can only benefit you. If you are going to make the effort and expend the time to exercise, then it only makes good sense to learn how to do it right. When you have a properly calculated exercise routine based solely on your research you will reap the benefits.
