The P90X Home Fitness Program By Tony Horton

By Kirk Dula

There are people who don't have the time or money for a gym membership but like to get in shape. Going for home exercise DVDs can work for them. The P90X is one such product which is the brainchild of Tony Horton, a fitness guru. This actually is derived from what's known as the Power 90, a workout program released years ago by the very same man.

A purchase contains 12 DVDs that contain the routines you need for a total of 90 days. You must devote an hour of your day to it 6 times per week in order to enjoy the physical transformation guaranteed. You can skip looking for a gym because working out may be done in your bedroom, living room or anywhere else in the house that's convenient for you.

You have to provide a few other things than just your DVD player and television. Some moves require the use of an exercise mat, yoga blocks and a pull-up bar. All these props have to be purchased separately. However, one important tool for toning your muscles is already part of the purchase, the resistance band.

As mentioned earlier, this is a successor of a workout program earlier offered by Tony Horton. It's important to know that this particular product contains more difficult routines that the first one. You may find some of the moves challenging, especially if you are not used to regular exercising. But those who have received some form of working out before won't have trouble following the moves in the videos, taught by Horton himself.

This program centers on Muscle Confusion, something designed to prevent a plateau from occurring. When you carry out the same routines again and again, your body will soon stop responding to them. In other words, you won't see further physical transformation despite of the fact that you are adhering to a regular exercise regimen.

Muscle Confusion helps solve that. You will find today's routine completely different from the ones you did yesterday. This is exactly what's needed to keep the muscles challenged so your body won't stop responding to exercise. Horton will get you motivated day after day as you try all sorts of moves that will ensure results in 90 days.

Without proper dieting, working out is useless. You need not spend time thinking about what food you should eat because a nutrition guide is included with the purchase. Your meals for 90 days are divided into 3 phases, starting with the elimination of your excess fat and ending with giving you energy to complete the program. There's one downside to this nutrition guide, and that is the need to purchase fitness shakes and bars from BeachBody.

Although the P90X doesn't require a regular trip to the gym, you still need to provide commitment to the program until the very last day. Knowing that this is something designed by a fitness trainer who has been around since the 80s, you can have confidence that you are doing the right thing. Aside from getting you in shape, the routines also help improve your endurance and strength.
