What are the Facts and Myths You Need to Know about Health and Fitness

By Joshua Green

You've probably been the victim of rumors about something, these are no different with health and fitness. As you probably know myths begin when one person carries something they heard even if only partially heard on to a third person who then carries it to someone else. Maybe they even didn't hear it right. But they innocently tell something they know, and another myth is born, again.

If the person giving you the tip is one of authority you are more likely to take that tip as gospel. These rumors can be harmful especially if the person does not do the exercise correctly. You'll want to continue reading this article for more facts on health and fitness myths.

A myth that is often discussed in the gym is the untruth (or partial untruth) that your metabolism will get a boost from aerobic exercise that can last for hours. The part of this myth that is misleading is the fact that the calories do not continue to burn like you'd expect. The reason is the actual increase in metabolic rate, for hours after the workout, is not as great as some have claimed it to be. The calorie burn is a direct relation to the metabolic increase and since neither is as great as we'd like it's an untruth.

Everyone has heard that regular exercise can help you have more energy. This benefit of regular exercise is true. People who regularly exercise in the morning feel energized all day long. Increased circulation is one of the many reasons for feeling more energized after a workout. As your circulation is improved, your cells receive more oxygen. Regular exercise can also help improve your strength and stamina. Improved stamina contributes to the feeling of having more energy.

Mental horsepower is only one benefit of fitness exercises. A higher level of performance and brain power is what we are talking about. Research has shown that having a regular bike tour exercise has a great effect on blood circulation. This circulation increase will help produce increased serotonin levels in the brain. The clarity of your brain is another effect of this increased level of serotonin. We think that is pretty fascinating and certainly a good thing. It's important for you to take the time to research everything in order to be able to clearly discern fact from fiction. For your own sanity and interest, do this regularly. Before you go out half cocked and exert the energy and time necessary for a change in lifestyle you need to know that you are doing it right. The benefits you will reap are worth the extra effort to do the research.
